FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Why do we need a Federal Balanced Budget Amendment?

Compare the federal government’s budget to your own. Ordinary
Americans have to budget their expenses to match their household
income.  For most of us that still means prioritizing and making tough choices.
And many of us comparison shop and clip coupons to stretch our dollars.

    Blank Check:

But suppose that you were given a blank check. You could buy whatever you wanted, and at the
end of the month, the bill would be paid with other peoples’ money. You would have no incentive
to prioritize or comparison shop in that situation.

Without a balanced budget amendment, the federal government has a blank check.  They have no
incentive to prioritize or comparison shop. They get to spend way beyond what is necessary and
then present you, the taxpayer, with the bill.

For the federal government, that translates into no-bid contracts and no accountability, costing us
billions. The result is ever higher taxes, as well as huge debt which our children and grandchildren
    will have to pay.

If the federal government is required to balance the budget, it will put an end to deficit spending
and the waste, fraud, and abuse that provides windfall profits to large corporations and
government cronies at the expense of the American taxpayer.

    A federal balanced budget...

    It’s just common sense!
